Founder

Dr. Ricordi is a renowned diabetes researcher based in Miami, Florida. Since 1996, he has served as Director of the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) at the University of Miami, where he is also Chief Academic Officer and Director of the DRI’s Cell Transplant Center.

Ricordi specializes in pancreatic islet transplantation and has significantly contributed to stem cell research for Type 1 Diabetes treatment. He is credited with developing the “Ricordi Method” for islet cell isolation. His prolific career includes over 1,779 scientific publications, 28 patents, and numerous awards, including the Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award from the American Diabetes Association.
